Rex Lee Qi Reigniting Japanese Art in His Shoe Design

Ikebana is an ancient art where zen and the art of balance is showcased through the flower arrangement.

I wanted to capture the daintiness and whimsical aspect of the art, in which I tried out different materials to better translate the idea.

Through different experimentations on consistency within time constraint, I realized that the yellow glue often used in shoe-making is a perfect choice to express.

Shaping the copper wires into desired shape and placing them together, Rex finally found the balance of the proportion.
